  • Welcome To The Journey To Soul Blog!

Hello readers! This is my first blog post I am making here on The Journey To Soul website which is really exciting! My name is Emily Lyons Bristow, I’m 25 years old and it has taken me a very long time to get the confidence to make this blog/website. I want this to be a space where I can freely discuss all things spirituality, mental health, self love, women’s health issues and all other life experiences and topics.

So a few years ago in 2020 when I was 19 years old, I had a WordPress blog called “Emily’sPerspective”, which I absolutely loved writing on for a long time and just expressing myself and talking about everything I was going through in my life at the time. At the beginning of this year in 2026 I shut down that previous blog as I hadn’t posted on it in over a year and to be honest as much as I loved and appreciated that blog, the girl who created it just doesn’t exist anymore, I have changed far more than I could of expected in the past few years and wanted a new space to write and express myself so that is why I’ve created Journey To Soul.

In the past 4 years I lost two family members on the same date one year apart, battled with grief, depression and alcohol dependency, but before then had already been battling with OCD and an eating disorder. All of this was while living alone, and as a result of all the physical and mental torture I was putting my body through by not acknowledging my issues, I developed Pre-menstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) which is a hormonal mood disorder aswell which I have been dealing for about 3 years, two of those years I had no idea what was happening to my body and kept ignoring all the signs. It was all caused by the traumatic events, alcohol, and eating really badly and my body was now physically showing me the signs of exhaustion from the years of ignoring my spiritual and mental wellbeing that it just finally caught up with me and I had to learn to just surrender and find a way to heal myself.

Two years ago as of this month funnily enough, I moved back to my family home to live with my Grandad and focus on my mental and physical healing. I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and It’s been a really tough rocky road but this year has been deeply healing for me and probably the most connected I’ve felt to myself and my soul purpose in a long time. My spirituality is one thing that has never left me even in my darkest days and I can see all of my hardest experiences I can now use to talk about them and find connection with others through it as I am not alone in my story or life experiences.

So why I have made this blog?

I want a safe space to talk about spirituality, whether it’s manifestation, meditation, astrology, psychic experiences, my love a nature, connection to Gaia and just spiritual beliefs I’ve developed along the way in my 7 year journey since my spiritual awakening I had in 2018. I also want to discuss mental health issues such as my own personal eating disorder, diet culture, my OCD journey, grief and women’s hormone disorders whilst bringing it all back to a spiritual mindset, I try to do everything in my life now through honouring my soul’s purpose and my personal core beliefs and I have stopped doing things that don’t honour those beliefs, this blog feels really aligned and something I’m very excited about.

I hope to do Full moon, New moon posts every month as much as I can as long as you are interested, and just writing about any experiences I am having at the time whether it be spiritual, mental or just life experiences. I am currently in a manifestation mindset and working towards some exciting new changes for myself in this life and I have high hopes that creating this website may bring me one step closer to those goals which I will share more about in future blog posts.

So I truly hope you guys will continue to follow along on this journey with me (excuse the pun!) and are interested in hearing more from me, thank you for reading this even though it felt a little heavy for me to write some parts of this, please know this blog will always try to come from a positive outlook on life.

See you in the next blog, bye!
